"When You Want it done right...
Swimming Pools don't necessarily have to break you, they are supposed to be fun and relaxing. Sometimes, things break or quit, But that doesn't always have to be a complete disaster, either. We get a lot of calls where we can help the customer fix the problem without paying for a service call. We help when we can, but sometimes the hands on experience of a trained professional is needed. This page shows a few things you can do to solve minor problems, and things you should know when you call a repairman. If you do need A-Pro, we serve the OKC area, including Bethany, Edmond, Moore, Mustang, Piedmont, and Yukon.

There are many things that a homeowner can do to reduce the amount of money spent on swimming pool repairs, starting with proper maintenance. Most of that is pretty simple, every day things, like keeping the equipment area clean. Usually, people pay close attention to whether the pool is clean, but often use the equipment room as storage. Nothing wrong with that, but you have to be able to tell where the storage ends and the pool equipment begins. One of the most common causes for premature pool pump failure is overheating. Assuming that the voltage, and wire size is correct, one of the most common reasons that a pump overheats is poor air circulation around the motor. There are vents on the underside of the motor, and a fan inside that spins with the motor shaft that keeps the motor cool. Sometimes the internal air passages get clogged, but, just as often, there are leaves, grass, and other debris blocking the air intake. The solution is as simple as keeping the area around the motor clean. If the pump sits outdoors, turn it off before you use a weed eater around it. Also, consider shading the equipment from the afternoon Oklahoma sun, or even turning the pump off during the hottest part of the day.
We regularly get calls where the customer says that the pump does nothing. Often, that is more perception than truth. Often, the pump hums for a few seconds before doing nothing. Not just to nit-pick, but there are a lot of different causes between those two symptoms. If it actually does nothing, it can be a tripped breaker, a broken wire, bad switch, or several other things. But if it hums for a few seconds, and then does nothing, it leads to an entirely different set of possibilities, like a locked rotor, bad capacitor, or dirty points. In either case, the motor may need to be replaced, or there may be an inexpensive solution. My point, here, is to be able to accurately describe the problem. The same is true with just about all of your pool and spa problems. If you can accurately describe the problem, and accurately specify the brand and model you are having a problem with, then, if there is a simple solution that can save you the cost of a service call, we will help you. It's what we do.Sorry, folks, I'm still working on this page.
